In 2013, we purchased this dairy, which had sat unused for several years, to keep it in the family. In 2014, we started milking 2 years before closing our parlor doors. After much discussion and research about what our next steps would be, we created a new dream to continue our family legacy. We wanted to be able to process and bottle our milk to market to our community. We are a small-town family farm trying to survive in the dairy industry. We are Kentucky Proud certified and Doug is a veteran of the Gulf War so we are honored to be participating in the Homegrown by Heroes program.
Our milk is pasteurized, but not homogenized, which means that the cream will rise to the top. Our milk comes primarily from Brown Swiss cows giving our milk a rich flavor and creamy texture. We take pride in knowing that Legacy milk comes strictly from cows raised and cared for right here on the farm in Hiseville and nowhere else making Legacy Dairy the only single sourced, cream lined milk in Kentucky.
